The Blues manager, Thomas Tuchel appears to have changed his transfer plans, after holding talks with the club’s board.
Chelsea started the season as title favourites but their current form suggests that, more work is needed, so as to improve this squad and close the gap on Manchester City.

The club is currently going through a difficult run of form and have several players missing, due to various reasons such as injury and Covid-19 amongst others. This could force the club to add some players into the squad this January transfer season, for a boost.

Following the reports from the Evening Standard, Tuchel was not initially planning to ask Chelsea for more funds in the transfer market, but it now looks like some potential deals are being investigated.

The report claims that, with Ben Chilwell’s injury, Chelsea will be forced to reconsider their plans, which could mean either a new signing is made or Emerson Palmieri is recalled from his loan at Lyon, for the left back.

“We are discussing and we are in talks, of course, with the staff and the board and the scouting, checking the possibilities as we would always do,” quoted Tuchel.

Tuchel also added that, they'll have to consider the fact that they have some long-term injuries, hence they'll have to go back to the market to look for some possibilities.

“But given the fact that we have some long-term injuries we’re looking into the market, we’re looking into some possibilities, not in the very highest pressure. And things have to make sense for us personality-wise, position-wise and also in quality. So we have all options and we’ll check them out.” added Tuchel.
