Clinton Morrison has claimed that Arsenal would go to the ‘next level’ if they managed to sign Raphinha from Leeds United this summer, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

The former Premier League striker would be in no doubt that Arsenal would then ‘be in contention’ for Champions League football with the possible capture of Leeds’ trickster on the right.

There seems to be a bit of a Brazilian theme linked to Arsenal’s summer transfer business, with the likes of Gabriel Jesus also being tipped to join the club.

But whilst the Manchester City player would play a central role in north London if he were to join, Raphinha who is another £60 million transfer target, would occupy those flanks

And Morrison thinks it would be some statement from the club if they signed the versatile forward, who netted 11 Premier League goals last season for a relegation-threatened side.

“Raphinha would be a hell of a signing,” said Morrison. “If Arsenal can pull off that signing, then they will be in contention to finish in that top-four.

“We know the struggles they had up top last season. They only had young Nketiah scoring the goals.

“But if you add players of that ilk and class, then it would take Arsenal to the next level.”

Every team up and down the lands wants that 20-goal man, whether they are an out-and-out striker, or like Mo Salah at Liverpool, they provide it from the flanks.

But, at the end of the day, only very few teams have that within their squad, so the stronger firepower you have as a collective, the better.

Bukayo Saka hit 11 Premier League goals last season, whilst Gabriel Martinelli is showing promise and Emile Smith Rowe also went through a number of strong spells.

If that proven striker arrives, added with Raphinha, then it would elevate this previously struggling Arsenal side in the final third.
